Celebrations and Observances-2026

 

1. World Elephant Day (12/08/26)
VKV (NEEPCO), Umrangso, observed World Elephant Day on 12 August 2026 through a special screening aimed at sensitizing students towards elephant conservation. The programme highlighted the ecological significance of elephants, the threats confronting their survival, and the imperative of preserving their natural habitats. The engaging presentation enriched students’ understanding and inspired them to develop greater empathy and responsibility towards wildlife and nature.

2. Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign (13/08/26)
The Umrangso Town Committee organised the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to foster patriotism and reinforce the spirit of national unity among citizens. VKV NEEPCO, Umrangso enthusiastically participated in the initiative, joining hands with the local community in celebrating the Tricolour. The participation reflected the Vidyalaya’s commitment to nurturing patriotism, civic responsibility and reverence for the national flag among its students.

3. Independence Day (15/08/28)
VKV (NEEPCO) Umrangso celebrated the 80th Independence Day of the nation with patriotic fervour and solemnity. The National Flag was hoisted by the Principal, Sri Digesh Chandra Nath, who addressed the gathering on the significance of the day and our responsibilities as conscientious citizens.
Kumari Sukanya Hojai of Class XII Arts delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the remarkable contributions of great freedom fighters such as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh and many others. She then spoke about the brave freedom fighters from Northeast India like Maniram Dewan, Veer Sambodhan Phonglo and paid tribute to the many unsung heroes whose sacrifices remain etched in the annals of our nation’s history.

4. Parents -Teachers Meetings (21/8/26 onwards)
A series of Parents–Teachers Meetings was conducted at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (NEEPCO), Umrangso, from 21 August 2026. The meetings provided a meaningful platform for parents and teachers to interact and discuss students’ academic progress, attendance, discipline and overall development. Constructive suggestions were exchanged, fostering greater cooperation between home and school. The programme concluded with a shared commitment to nurturing students into responsible, confident and well-rounded individuals.

5. Chhote scientist activities skill for class V and VI (26/08/26)
A “Chhota Scientist” activity was organised on 26 August 2026 at the Activity Hall of VKV (NEEPCO), Umrangso, for the students of Classes V and VI. The programme offered young learners an engaging platform to explore scientific concepts through hands-on experiments and observation. Students participated enthusiastically, nurturing curiosity, creativity, analytical thinking and scientific temper. The activity made science learning experiential, enjoyable and meaningful.

6. Career Guidance Session (26/08/26)
A Career Guidance Session was organised on 26 August 2026 for the students of Classes XII Science and Arts at VKV (NEEPCO), Umrangso. The virtual session was conducted by Professor Dr. Debomalya Ghosh, HoD, Department of MBA, Assam University, Silchar, and convened by Sri Kamal Sutradhar, PGT English. The session was attended by 46 students along with their parents. Professor Ghosh offered valuable guidance on higher education, career prospects and informed career choices, helping students plan their future with greater clarity and confidence.

7. Raksha Bandhan (28/08/26)
VKV NEEPCO, Umrangso, celebrated Raksha Bandhan in a unique and meaningful manner at four different locations in association with the members of the Amrit Pariwar group. The celebration fostered a spirit of fraternity, affection and social harmony, strengthening the bond between the Vidyalaya and the community. The programme witnessed a total attendance of 620 participants (approx) and reflected the cherished values of mutual respect, togetherness and cultural harmony.

8. Bhavpurna Shraddhanjali to Mananeeya A. Balakrishnan Ji (Date: 31/08/26)
VKV NEEPCO Umrangso observed a Bhavpurna Shraddhanjali programme on 31 August 2026 in remembrance of Mananeeya Shri A. Balakrishnan Ji, former President of Vivekananda Kendra. The programme paid heartfelt tribute to the revered Jeevanvrati Karyakarta, whose life was dedicated to the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and the service of the nation. His exemplary life of Seva, Samarpan, discipline and selfless dedication was remembered with deep reverence. His invaluable contribution to education, social service and nation-building continues to inspire generations. The programme concluded with Gita shloka chanting, followed by prayer for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
